The flight came in from Amsterdam, so it made sense that the gate we came out of is right by Customs. There was a very long line waiting to clear through. Unless you were either an American or Canadian citizen. Well since I was neither, yet, I stood in the long line of visitors and green card holders. Halfway through though, permanent residents got called over to a different area, so yay! I got to skip the long line. While I was standing in the much shorter line, I saw this one guy being escorted by cops. What was going on? I heard an agent say he would have to go back to the Philippines. Oh no. Then I saw another lady being asked to move over to an adjacent room with her luggage. I heard yet another person asked to go into a different area and I was starting to think that they were getting tougher with their checks. So, a little nervous, I went up next and handed my Customs form to the agent. I had marked on it that I had food, so he asked what I had. I said spices and snacks...and fried fish. He said ok, you can go. Whaaatt? Really? Cool! Just don't lie people...they will know. I have always marked on that form that I have food because I do. I've seen some people who didn't mark it on their form and the agents open up their luggage and there's a lot of food. Did you think you were going to get away with it or did you really have a hard time understanding the form?
I saw my two bags come through, grabbed them and went on my merry way to the arrivals area. I called Mitch to see where he was at. Couldn't wait to see him! There I saw him walking in...man I missed this guy for two whole weeks. An Indian family stared at us while we hug and kiss, because what good brown girl goes along with PDA? Unless you are an actress that is. Ha.
I was feeling very very sick. I think it got worse hanging out with more sick people in a cylinder breathing the same air. We headed to Target to get some meds for me, then to Chipotle and then home. Finally! I couldn't tell if Annie was excited to see me or if she still wasn't sure I was really home. It is nice to be back home, typing this as I sit on the bed listening to an episode of Gilmore Girls playing in the background.
