Mitch mentioned in an earlier post that he wasn’t really thinking about me when deciding to make a trip out west. I had already once left my family in Sri Lanka to come to the U.S. By myself. Well, the thing is, yes I wouldn’t have really gone on this adventure to California if not for Mitch. There really is nothing in the world that I wouldn’t do for him. If we hadn’t done this, I think we’d still be thinking, “what if”. Well, now we won’t. It was the best time to go on an adventure and I don’t regret it one bit. Except for my car getting broken into, of course.
Anyway, I am just so glad to be back home. Yes, I said home. Winters are harsh and I hate walking on ice, but nothing, NOTHING beats the nature that Minnesota has to offer. The green trees, the bodies of water and best of all, the kind hearted people of MN. Yes, I realize I am generalizing. And as Jim likes to say, I am indeed a misplaced Minnesotan at heart.
Since we’ve been back, I’ve had an interview at Affinity Plus, the bank that Mitch and I use. They were my first and hopefully my last bank. I have had no trouble with them at all for the last seven years. In fact, they are one of the best services on the St. Cloud State campus. I would love to work for them as a Member Advisor. I can help people and the advisor is empowered to do what they think is right for the members. That’s awesome! While I have a background in business, I am not the person to justify charging people exorbitant prices for things or just selling to sell. I’d rather help and go to sleep everyday knowing that I made a difference in someone’s life. There’s a reason for all the awards I have for volunteerism. Helping people in any way I can is the best feeling!
I had my interview on Monday and I am still waiting to hear back. I really really hope to hear some good news from them. This would honestly be an awesome place to work!
