Now that I remember, we got to California on Monday, the 23rd of July. On my dad's birthday. We booked a room at Homestead Hotel in Sacramento, CA. It's an extended stay hotel, so basically you can stay as long as you want to. As long as you pay up every week of course! I thought it was so weird until I learned that some retirees actually live here. So, it's basically like an apartment with a weekly lease at an inflated price. Anyways, we are staying here until we land something.
Mitch and I went to Starbucks three or four times this past week. Not to get coffee or any fancy drinks, but for the availability of the interwebs. So there we sit, applying for one job after another, while people come, order their drinks and eventually leave. We figured we needed to get out of our apartment, that's merely a room. I don't think being cooped up in that nest, as comfortable as it is, would be healthy.
We went to a nearby Target and Wal-Mart. We had lunch at In-N-Out Burger, known for it's great quality. We also had lunch once at Carl's Jr since I had never been there. There's Pizza Hut, Subway and Jack in the box around, so we have a lot of options for food. Yes, some unhealthy choices, but hey if it's cheap, that's what we're getting. Mitch and I are actually acclimating to Sacramento. Which is good and bad. It's good because we are here right now and need to know the area. It's bad because our future jobs (fingers crossed) are going to take us somewhere else.
For now, Mitch and I keep applying and hoping that we get interviews. Once we get interviews...well, the Heids WILL ace any interview! Until then though, we'll be hunched over our computers, hunting for jobs. And yes, it's a real sport-one that requires great strength and willpower.
